There was a period back in the early aughts when console gaming was a creative gem. The film versions of Star Wars were atrocious, but Knights of the Old Republic was outstanding storytelling, so good that I bought a reconditioned Xbox so I could keep playing it. I’m not much of a console gamer, but I enjoyed how it used the D20 roleplaying game engine and I liked tinkering with playing different types of characters.
This was produced by BioWare, which has just closed its doors.
My kids really liked Baldur’s Gate and Dragon Age, but by the time those came out, I was moving away from consoles and spending my time writing. A major factor in the closure was the utter failure of the latest installment of Dragon Age, which was a bunch of unplayable woke slop featuring ugly homosexuals. Yeah, that’s what I to fantasize about at the end of a day, being an ugly homosexual. Not a handsome hero, no sir. That’s so 90s. The kids of today want to look hideous and have weird sexual kinks.
Turns out, not so much. Both here and at Bleeding Fool I’ve been talking for a while how a course change is necessary and when we saw runaway hits like Top Gun: Maverick, it was natural to assume that the money men would get the picture.
But the woke parasites are very difficult to dislodge. Because they are incapable of empathy and think only of their feelings, one cannot reason with them. This is old problem of the scorpion and the frog. It is in their nature.
To be more specific, the woke ideology is a replacement religion. These people are Yard Sign Puritans, and so altering course, toning down their politics is impossible. They are compelled to bear witness to their false gods, regardless of the price. For their entire lives they have been wafted effortless upwards, hired to check a box, not meet a performance standard. They cannot change.
Their ecosystem is collapsing, and it is my hope that the find themselves again, and find God. Otherwise, I fear many of them will succumb to drugs and self hate.
It may too late for the heavy-hitters to change course, but their competitors are sure to exploit this weakness, which is what we need.
