By midweek, I'd had my fill of Antony Beevor's The Battle for Spain.

The bias I could take, but not the twisting (and outright omission) of facts that undercut his love for the Spanish Republic.

So I'm done with him.

In more positive news, I'm making good progress, steadily fleshing out the framework of the book, which is continually expanding.  What started as a dozen chapters is now up to 18 and I will likely add more as I consider items important to my analysis.

I'm also starting to use quotes from some of my sources (like Churchill and Orwell) because I think they illustrate the point I'm trying to make.  Wow, just like a real scholar.

It's hard to calculate how long the project will take because I'm not really in control to the same extent I am when writing a novel.  I'm keeping a pace of about 5,000 words a week, which would indicate I'll finish by August, but maybe this will be longer than my projected 60,000 words.  Or it could be shorter.

There's also the issue of maps and diagrams, plus bibliography, index, etc.  These are things I never contended with on this scale.   It can all be rather intimidating.
