Looking over my previous posts, I see that I was talking about Battle Officer Wolf’s sequel as far back as November, 2019.
It was not until the tail end of last year that I completed the audiobook version of it, which also entailed updating the manuscript. That process gave me a very close knowledge of the work, and the desire to conclude the story has gotten much stronger.
A recurring theme in my writing choices is that I often go after low-hanging fruit. More than once I have decided not to start fresh, but instead to select abandoned manuscripts and do extensive revisions. This might involve massive deletions, but I find that easier than making a completely fresh start. My projected book on Atlantis will do this, but the holdup on doing it is the need for more research.
This would be my first actual sequel as the Man of Destiny series was written as a cohesive whole rather than one book at a time. Indeed, I did not publish the first book until the final one was underway and I was certain how it would turn out.
A key factor is that the desire to write is building. I enjoy the creative process for its own sake, and so perhaps now I will finally close that loop.
