Picking up the Vampire thread

Last week I managed to finally get back into writing mode, the first time I've done so since the cardiac event at the start of September.

Doing this required me to go back and figure out where I left off.  Believe it or not, authors don't have photographic recall of their works, and I've been known to mix of characters or plot twists when someone asks me about it.

There's a reason we have editors.  Continuity sometimes eludes us.

My original plan was to have this ready in time for Halloween.  Obviously, that's impossible now, so my fallback is to get the first draft done by Thanksgiving and try to turn it around for a December launch.  We'll see if that works.

The core story is done, but there are a number of details that have to be worked out.  My long pause also caused me to consider adding some complexity to the story because vampires are all about intrigue.  After reviewing what I've gotten written so far, I find it deficient in that respect.

That may be strange coming from me of all people, since all my books have a lot of maneuvering, but this was meant to be a more straightforward story.  Upon review, I find I don't like it, so it's time to tinker with it.
